This kit contains seals for all 8 seal locations (9 seals) that you need to re-seal the entiresteering actuator. It hastwo(2) large outer seals that seal theouter floating housing to the inner housing. It has the end cap O-ring seal as well asthe rod pressure seal and wiper seal. There are 2 small O-ring seals forthe 2 bronze pressure line fittings as well as the two different versions ofpiston seals that were used in the various models of these actuators. The three cup style pressure seals are made from Viton which is the best longest life solution for ATF. In addition, all of these seals are manufacturedin the USA, not China.
PLEASE BE AWARE that there is another seller listing these products on E-Bay and they are using my pictures of my seals in their listing. They are NOT buying their seals from me. It is unknown what seals they will be sending since the pictures they show are of my seal kit. They are shipping from China.
If you just want the basic rebuild kit for the rod and all of theassociated seals that are for the inner pressure cylinder, then please see thislink class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: normal; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">If your piston in the inner pressure cylinder has a bronze-coloredTeflon pressure seal and you just want to replace it only, you can order it at thefollowing link :https://www..com/itm/325460576277 . To install, it isgenerallyhelpfulto soak the Teflon partof the seal in hot water (approx 160 deg F) for about 5 minutes. Afterinstall, you will want to put a hose clamp around it to help shrink the Teflonback to proper size. Lubricate well with the oil you will be using in theactuator to help with re-assembly into the cylinder.
This kit will not address the significant problem that youcommonly see when rebuilding these actuators which is a cracked plastic piston. These seals will not solve thatproblem. Once the crack reaches the seal around the center of thepiston the high-pressure oil flows under the seal to the other side of thepressure chamber thereby defeating the power assist function of the actuator. When this happens, the boat is more difficult to turn and sometimes nearimpossible to turn. We have a solution for this issue as well butsince the replacement of the piston requires special tooling recommend you donot buy the seal repair kit and instead you send us the actuator so we canrepair it. You can see our rebuild at this E-Bay class="MsoNormal" class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: normal; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">We recommend the use of a mineral based ATM fluid (Non synthetic)that meets the Mercon and Dexron 2 spec such as what can be found at thislink.
