Frame Specific Dimensions Ensures a Perfect Fit Under the Bed of Your Pickup
Moving the fuel tank to the rear of your pickup under the truck’s pickup box/bed floor provides several benefits. The most obvious of course is removing the liquid fuel storage from inside the passenger compartment where a ruptured tank, separated fuel line or filler hose in an accident can cover the occupants with gasoline. Moving the fuel tank to the rear not only provides a higher level of safety but places a good bit of weight at the rear of the pickup, which aids in traction. On average you’re looking at roughly 100 pounds of weight with a full truck bed fuel tank. Relocating the fuel tank also provides a bit more cabin storage room, or space for audio gear, road trip tools, and so forth. For 67-72 truck owners we even offer a C10 fuel filler delete
Fabricated, TIG welded aluminum looks trick, but might look out of place on some trucks. With that in mind, these tanks are also available in black anodized and stainless steel. The black tanks are subtle and will blend in with the other finishes under the truck, while the stainless lends a high-end touch to complement the rest of the shiny stuff throughout the truck.
Ready for Modern EFI Power
These days, lots of classic trucks need more from their fuel system than just a tank relocation. In place of those old stock small blocks and utilitarian 6-cylinders are upgraded late model engines with EFI and lots of power. Some even have power adders like turbos or superchargers and they need way more fuel than those ho-hum original engines ever did. These tanks are up to the job with an integrated ring to mount in-tank EFI pumps with the common 12-bolt, 5.375” bolt circle. There are quite a few advantages of an in-tank pump design. That’s why the OE’s have been using them for decades. Particularly critical at high power levels is the cooling effect of the fuel in the tank on the pumps. Additionally, the surrounding fuel helps isolate the sound of the pumps. Spend any time in a truck with a big external pump bolted to the frame and you’ll appreciate the relative silence of in-tank pumps. Internal pumps also serve to clean up the plumbing, minimizing fittings and potential leak sources when compared to external pumps.
The 1-1/2-inch diameter filler neck uses standard filler neck hose and allows you to install your choice of fuel filler cap/door in the floor of your truck’s bed.
