Summary: This tool is now my go to for rear gear setups. verifying the depth is so important. calibration and setup is pretty easy. remember the depth gauge reads counterclockwise. you have to play around to get the position of the gauge with the brackets they give you. having pinion dummy bearings is advised as damage may occur when removing the pinion bearing to reshim. if you do it right you should only have to remove/install the pinion bearing once to correct your depth. good luck.

Summary: The dial gauges are easy to read and adjust and are good quality the mechanisms that holds the gauges in place holds well. Every thing is of high quality. It comes in a nice wood storage box that holds every thing in place. Print the directions from speedway motors site when you look up the tool discription, the direction sheet that comes with it in the box is very scetchy there are also three pictures included that are a big visual help when setting up.If you have experience reading a dial gauge it would help a lot when using this tool.The pictures are taken with the tool set up on an open 9" ford differential. I used this tool to set up a ford 9" removable carrier, Advice! the 1" number comes from the added length of the pinion hub that fits in the carrier bearing in the case,add that number to the dial # to get your reading( 1.029") example.On the removable carrier you can not rest the tool measuring end on the pinnion flat surface because of the support housing you have to set it up on the top of the pinnion hub. This measuring tool works good on eather one and is a great time saver. Instead of trial and error guessing on the shim or shims thickness needed on the pinnion support housing.

Summary: As indicated" works on most cases". Dogbone does not work well on aftermarket 9" case. Casting on Strange case is more beefy at rear pinion support and dogbone does not clear it. I'll make one that will fit out of bar stock.
