'63-'64 Ford Galaxie Offset Shaft Stabilizer Bar:
$129.99

One of Ford's not so good ideas was the offset shaft on the front lower control arm bolt on 1963-1964 Ford Galaxies and Mercury Marauders. It allowed the front suspension settings to dynamically change as the car encountered road irregularities. This was good for ride quality, but as vehicle speed increased, so did the wishy-washy feeling of the front end at speed. Ford recognized this and equipped police cars and taxi cabs with a fixed pivot bolt, or a bolt on brace. My kit is a simple bolt on piece that connects the two lower pivots together so that they cannot move. It is fully adjustable with the left and right hand threads and requires no drilling or welding of any kind. It can beinstalled in a few minutes and will clear sway bars. I have this kit installed on my own road race '64 Galaxie and the front end is solid at triple digit speeds.

-This kit willclear 260, 289,302.351W,351C,351M and 400 small blocks.

-It will clear all FE engines.

-WILL NOT WORK ON 429-460 BASED ENGINES UNLESS YOU GIVE ME A MEASUREMENT FROM THE BACK OF YOUR CROSSMEMBER TO THE FRONT EDGE OF YOUR OIL PAN.

-With this kit you will get:

-Two bolt on brackets.

-One 6061 Aluminumstabilizer rod.

-One 5/8" left hand thread rod end.

-One 5/8" right hand thread rod end.

-All attaching hadware.

'63-'64 Galaxie Offset Shaft Stabilizer Bar Instructions

-This is a simple bar that keeps the factory offset shaftsfrom rotating which changes camber, caster and toe settings at vehicle speed.

-The stabilizer bar may not be exactly the same as thepictures in the listing as I purchase these from several differentsuppliers, and some are aluminum, some are steel, some are cad plated and someare painted black.

-If your car was recently aligned, following theinstructions will not affect the alignment. If you are rebuilding the entirefront suspension, an alignment will be needed. If it has been several yearssince an alignment, an alignment may be in order.

-Every effort was made to make sure that this bar will fitthe vast majority of Galaxies that are out there, but there are exceptions, andmajor collision damage at some point could affect the fitment on your car.

-The two (2) attachment brackets attach to the lower controlarm offset shaft using the original nuts.

-After safely supporting the car on jack stands, theoriginal nuts can be removed and the attachment brackets can be installed overthe protruding stud portion of the offset shaft with the studs on the bracketspointing back towards the engine. The attachment brackets should be installedas close to horizontal as possible with the studs on the attachment bracketsand the protruding stud portion of the offset shaft on the same parallel plane. The nuts can now be tightened.

-The car can now be lowered and should be driven backwardsand forwards a few times to get the offset shafts in a neutral position.

-Without raising the car up in the air, the stabilizer barcan now be slipped over the studs on the brackets from the top of the enginecompartment. (Doing it this way will not affect the wheel alignment) Since thebar has right and left hand threads, the bar will need to be rotated left orright to lengthen or shorten the bar assembly to slip over the studs on theattachment brackets. The bar can be rotated by hand as it was pre-assembledwith anti seize on the rod end threads.

-With the bar slipped over the attachment studs, the nutsthat came with the brackets can now be tightened fastening the bar assembly tothe brackets. The jam nuts can also be tightened against the bar. The jam nutsonly need to be gently tightened by placing one wrench on one jam nut, andanother wrench on the opposite jam nut.

Alignment suggestions:

-1/2- 1 degree negative camber

- 1 1/2 - 2 degrees positive caster (manual steering)

- 2-4 degrees positive caster (power steering)

-1/16" toe in
